Standard pricing for the Email Defence Service is as follows:
  • Anti-spam (default feature) $2.00 per user per month ($24.00 / yr)
  • Upgrade: Anti-virus (Sophos) $1.00 per user per month
  • Upgrade: Content & Attachment Filtering $0.50 per user per month

As an important note, every email address that is subscribed to the Email Defence Service will receive the same features (i.e., anti-spam plus any upgrades) as the features are subscribed to at the domain level. Individual email addresses on the same domain that are subscribed to the service may not have different features. For email addresses on the domain that are not subscribed to the service, their mail will not be filtered and will continue to flow normally to the destination email address.

Advanced Spam Filtering

Unlike most spam filtering solutions, which use one or two spam-classification techniques, MX Logic's Stacked Classification FrameworkSM aggregates the most effective spam filters and techniques in the industry, currently leveraging the strengths of five spam-fighting filters:

Bayesian-Statistical algorithms identify and quantify the possibility that an email message is spam.

Heuristics-Thousands of proprietary rules of thumb recognize characteristics of spam.

Distributed Checksum Clearinghouses-Takes a checksum, or fingerprint, of all email messages it sees, and places those fingerprints in a database. If the database recognizes a large number of exact matches or at least very similar fingerprints, then those fingerprints are likely to indicate spam.

Distributed Deny Lists: Third-party, distributed blacklists of known spammer IP addresses and identities from which mail should not be allowed

Domain and End User Level Black and White Lists-Maintained by the Reseller or their customers, these customized lists detail email addresses, domains or IP addresses from which mail is and is not allowed or should always be allowed.

Each of the five filters dynamically calculates the spam probability of every message. Through an aggregation and analysis of these spam-likelihood scores, the patent-pending, multi-layered spam detection system provides extremely effective spam blocking.

MX Logic provides LOGIX with continual updates to the filters, while also introducing new filtering techniques to stay on top of spammers. All Email Defence customers receive anti-spam.

Anti-Virus from Sophos

Powered by leading virus-scanning technology Sophos®, email is scanned for viruses before it enters or leaves your network, providing continuous proactive virus protection. Administrators can determine specific actions for email containing a virus including strip, quarantine, and deny. Anti-virus is available as an optional upgrade.

Content and Attachment Filtering

Automatically filter and quarantine inappropriate content and attachments before they enter a customer's organization or family's mailboxes. Filters can be created, altered, enhanced, neutralized or deleted. Customers can configure content and attachment filtering through an intuitive web-based Administrative interface. When a policy violation occurs, a silent copy of the violation can also be sent to an alternative email address (e.g., HR manager or parent). Content and attachment filtering is available as an optional upgrade.

Sophisticated Quarantine Management

The innovative spam quarantine process allows spam quarantines to be managed by LOGIX, or our subscribers. If you choose to manage your quarantine, a "Spam Quarantine Report" is sent your email inbox. Via this email report, you can simply and quickly delete, forward, white list and/or blacklist quarantined email, significantly reducing the amount of time you must spend managing spam and related inquiries. The Spam Quarantine Report is unique since the you are automatically authenticated without requiring a password. Optionally, the Email Defence Service Portal also provides anytime access to personal quarantine areas.


Integration with LOGIX WebMail

If LOGIX Email has been purchased for the domain that is also using the Email Defence Service, that end user's Spam Quarantine and Allow & Deny Lists will be available in the LOGIX WebMail interface. This will provide the you with fully integrated email management. If Email Defence has not been purchased for a LOGIX WebMail mailbox, no Email Defence features will be available in WebMail

High Availability and Zero Latency Message Delivery

Leveraging a "pod" (N+1) architecture, LOGIX Email Defence Service provides carrier-class availability of filtering and delivery components. Messages traverse the network and transparently pass through complex filtering layers without latency. Sub-second processing provides for virtually no delay, as messages are "proxy-streamed" into the enterprise.

In-line Message Streaming

The MX Logic architecture creates a proxy gateway for inbound email to the enterprise or destination mail host. The service never acknowledges receipt of an email message. Instead, MX Logic accepts the inbound email traffic with the Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) and immediately opens a connection to the destination recipient email server. Messages are then passed through MX Logic's pre-processing filtering layers as they are streamed to the recipient SMTP server. Filtered email is not stored on the Email Defence servers. Once the recipient messaging platform signals the acceptance of the inbound email, the accepted protocol message is then passed back to the originating SMTP sender. Messages are processed in a network stream environment and are never stored to disk.
